Vice Admiral H.C.A.C. Thisera, VSV, USP, ndc - Sri Lanka Navy

Born in 1947 and studied St. Anthony's College, Wattala. He was appointed as a Cadet Officer in the Royal Ceylon Navy, along with the first intake of Cadets to the Naval & Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. Promoted to Sub Lieutenant in 1973 and Lieutenant in 1974. He specialized in Gunnery in 1975 and followed a Training Technology Course in Australia in 1982. Later on he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 1982, Commander in 1985, Captain in 1988 and Commodore in 1992. After that he has appointed as Commandant in Naval & Maritime Academy and in 1995 promoted to Rear Admiral as the appointment of Chief of Staff. Promoted to Vice Admiral on assumption of Command of the Navy.
