Navy’s Passenger Vessel A-543 commences sailing for Whale Watching

The inaugural sailing ceremony of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Passenger Vessel A-543 for whale watching for the public was held at the Port of Galle today (30th January 2011).

Galle District Parliamentarian Hon. Manusha Nanayakkara, Mayor of Galle Mr. Methsiri de Silva, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake, Directors General of the Sri Lanka Navy, Commander Southern Naval Area, Senior officers of the Forces and the Police in the area as well as personnel from print and electronic media attended the occasion. They sailed to Mirissa sea area on board A-543 for whale watching.

A-543 is scheduled to set sail four times per week for whale watching with tourists on board. It will provide tours of 05 hours or more as per the wish of the participants and the rates will be displayed in our web. The tours are open for both local and foreign tourists.

During this season A-543 will be sailing in the Galle-Mirrissa sea area for whale watching and according to the monsoonal patterns and sea conditions, it is scheduled to sail in the sea area between Colombo-Kalpitiya and in Trincomalee area.
