Considering the purpose of establishing Sri Lanka Coast Guard the Spectrum of Conflict (Figure
1.4) and the Role of the Navy (Figure 1.6), it is apparent that some role and task that Sri Lanka
Navy is undertaking during Peace, Vulnerable Peace, Fragile Peace, Military Activities in Peace,
Conflicts Other Than War (COTW) and Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW) can be
entrusted to SLCG. The recommended SLN and SLCG model for Sri Lanka is as follows;
