THE SPECTRUM OF CONFLICT


                            The Korean War (1950 - 1953)

             Korean War, conflict between the Democratic People’s Republic
             of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea)
             in which at nearly 2.5 million personnel lost their lives. The war
             reached  international  proportion  in  June  1950  when  North
             Korea, invaded the South.

        Total War or General War

        This is commonly used to define major unrestricted conflict in which
        national survival is at stake. The definition is; General War implies a total
        national effort in, which all elements of society will be involved.


                         The Second World War (1939 - 1945)

             Second  World  War  was  a  global  war  that  lasted  from  1939
             to 1945. The vast majority of the world’s countries including
             all  the great powers  formed to  apposing  military alliances;
             the Allies and the Axis. A state of total war emerged, directly
             involving more than 100 million people from more than 30
             countries. The major participants threw their entire economic,
             scientific and industrial capabilities behind the war effort.
